S5 Ep. 306 Die Empty, Live Full

“I want to die empty.” That line stops you in your tracks, but it can also be misunderstood as hustle, burnout, or a never-ending push to produce. We slow it down and ask the deeper question: what does it actually mean to live a fulfilled life before you ever reach the finish line?

We walk through fulfillment as something bigger than accomplishments or amassing wealth. For us, it starts with discovering purpose and moving from simply existing to truly living. When you find your “space on earth,” your unique positioning, your days begin to carry intention, and what you give to the world stops feeling like performance. If you’re searching for purpose, meaning, and direction, this conversation offers a clear spiritual framework: you were created for a purpose according to God’s purpose.

Then we get honest about validation. Most of us want to be seen, heard, and taken seriously, especially when we’re doing our best and it feels like nobody notices. We challenge the trap of chasing people’s approval and point to a steadier source of identity and self-worth: faith in God. That shift changes how we measure progress, how we handle invisibility, and how we keep going when applause is absent.

Speaker 1: Hi, welcome to the World Cafe live show. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good everything. How are you doing? I will ask that question because you're always my audience. And largely why we are here is because you're there. I'm fine, I'm good. Always exciting coming into the show, this space to share something with you. So recently I overheard somebody made a statement, you know, and that statement was, I want to die empty. And when I heard that, I was like, okay, I know there's a book with that title, Die Empty. And I asked myself, what do you understand by that when you say, I want to die empty? Does that presuppose that you are a container with carrying stuffs inside? And every minute of the day you are dispensing, as it were, what you carry, adding to life and all of that. So that was my question, you know. But what I what I got was it isn't about container dispensing and all that. It is about fulfillment, leaving fulfilled life. You know, you leave fulfilled, you wake up and you know that I have fulfilled something. So the question now is: what does it mean? What is the true meaning of fulfillment? It stems from that position of discovering purpose. Yep. You discover purpose. And when you discover purpose, you begin to leave. What does it really mean to leave? It's not just existing, it's not just going to bed, waking up, going out and coming in. No. But you have found, would I call it, your space on earth. You have found your coordinate, you have found your positioning, and you begin to like give off that essence God has put within you. So there's something again that comes to mind. Each time we talk about living, fulfilling purpose, you know, uh you doing what you're created for, the question of validation comes into play. Man is a creature. He's created, he has an image, he has a form, and he has a likeness. Now, that image always seeks a mirror. The mirror here is validation. We always seek, you know, validation. We want to be seen, we want to be known, we want to be heard, we want to be, you know, taken seriously and all of that. We want to, we just want to. You you reach out and all of that. And you sometimes you feel like nobody is seeing what I'm doing. Am I really doing anything? Nobody's paying attention to what I'm doing. Am I really? But now I came to understand that that isn't it. Seeking validation, going around wanting to be seen, looking for that mirror that will see you, that's not it. It is accepting who you are. I heard a woman of God, Catherine Coleman, said, the minute you lose faith in God, you have lost faith in yourself. Hear that? The minute you lose faith in God, you have lost faith in yourself. In other words, it isn't the people that you need validation from. No, you need validation from God. And how do you do that? Faith, having faith in God, positions you, as it were, you know, as one pleasing, because that's what the word of God says. It says, without faith, it's impossible to please God. And the truth is, we are here to please him. And by faith, when we walk, we please him. We, as we please him, our lives, we're leaving, we are dispensing, we are, you know, not just existing. And that's how I see dying empty. You've been struggling with that thing, you've been fighting with that thing. You want to be validated, you want people to see you. Speaker: Come closer. God sees you. Uh-huh. He sees you. But he wants you to see yourself in him. Speaker 1: Because the minute you do that, then every day of your life will not just be an existence or an experience of existence. It will be an experience of living. Because everything you do, it is unto him. And that is how you live your life. That is how you die empty. Because every step we take on earth every day, we are moving closer to living. If you understand what I mean by that. Well, that's what I came to do today on the show. Yeah, you can die empty only if you understand the principle of living fulfilled, a life of fulfillment. I'm not talking about amassing wealth. No. I'm not talking about faith. No, that isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about fulfilling purpose because you were created. Speaker: Yeah, for a purpose. Speaker 1: According to God's purpose. You've heard me say that a couple of times, you know. You were created for a purpose, according to God's purpose. So, what do you do? He who created you for his purpose, you fix your eyes on him. The minute you fix your eyes on him, you please him. You're leaving every day.
